International Day of Clean Energy

The first-ever International Day of Clean Energy declared by the UN General Assembly should serve as a reminder for all of us to do more and to do it faster. We urgently need just, inclusive and equitable transitions to clean energy. Lives and livelihoods are at stake.

Clean energy is crucial for decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and providing dependable power sources for communities. Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which focuses on affordable and clean energy, is to ensure universal access to economical, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030. Presently, global efforts are falling short of achieving SDG 7, as 675 million people continue to lack access to reliable power, living in darkness. The GPA Coordination Unit plays a pivotal role in uniting collaborative endeavours towards Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7). Our focus is on driving a substantial shift towards affordable and clean energy for all, particularly within the humanitarian sector. Let's champion the cause of EnergyAccess in displacement settings and strive for a significant move towards inclusivity.
